B2B Digital Marketing Trends Shaping 2025

New Year, new me…and almost new marketing tactics. Rather than reinvent the wheel with revolutionary new marketing tactics, I'm excited to help you capitalise on the B2B digital marketing trends shaping 2025.

Last year, we saw tremendous technological strides (a.k.a. Digital Transformation), which led to exhilarating developments and new trends in digital marketing.

This blog will help you capitalise on these and forecast where to invest this year. Read on for a summary of my 2024 observations and 2025 trend predictions, which you can proactively apply to your digital marketing strategy.

2024 Digital Marketing Trends in a Nutshell

In our previous blog, What 2024 Has Taught Digital Marketers, we saw that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has infiltrated every inch of digital marketing. B2B marketers who aren't leveraging AI for automation—at least—are already years behind.

Emphasis on personalisation, privacy and security continues to rise. User Experience demands proliferated with Google welding into the very fabric of its CORE updates.

With the plethora of data being shared daily and increasing AI processing power, brands have no excuse for not levelling up on personalisation. This is a non-negotiable for consumers who crave connection and community.

Short-form video shot up in the ranks, dominating social media. Interactive experiences followed close behind.

Hot Topics on B2B Marketers’ Lips

Along with the trends I've already mentioned, other topics that steeped the many boardroom meetings I attended were:

  • Account-Based Marketing (ABM) as a targeting and relationship-building approach joining marketing and sales forces.
  • Thought leadership as a content marketing strategy.
  • Leveraging data to inform content marketing decisions.
  • Adapting sales and marketing strategies to remote work environments. For example, developing virtual sales pitches.
  • Virtual events. Mind-boggling how this only seems to have "caught on" now so long post-pandemic.

Overcoming B2B Marketing Challenges

If you really want to get ahead this year, these are the stumbling blocks that I recommend you eliminate as fast as possible.

  • Privacy regulations compliance. Data privacy and protection are legal requirements. As if that's not enough, they are fundamentally important to your audience. A misstep here can send all your marketing efforts up in flames.
  • Ad Blockers. As marketers, we hate them. As consumers, we rely on them for an uninterrupted digital experience. Marketers must find creative workarounds. Guess what's on my agenda this quarter?
  • Measuring ROI. Accurate measurement is absolutely crucial in this data-driven day and age. Fail to keep track and you risk following an entirely incorrect trajectory.
  • Talent shortages. Need I say more? Good help is hard to find and harder to retain. Take the pressure off your internal resources and find a Digital Marketing Agency that attracts top talent! Our team comprises specialists in their respective fields (SEO, copy, design, Social Media Marketing, Business Intelligence and more).

Without further ado, let's jump into what you came here for.

Digital Marketing Trends 2025

Aye, Aye to AI

AI Adoption is at an all-time high.

By now, most marketers should have adopted AI and Machine Learning (ML) for:

However, it's not only marketers feasting on the abundance of AI. Virtually every business sector uses AI in some form, giving birth to marketers' new grail: Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO).

GEO is the practice of optimising for AI-driven search engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, and Gemini (a key component of Google AI Overviews). The goal is to improve content visibility and accuracy in AI-generated search results. I highly recommend reading our Introduction to Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) for more info.

Raise the Volume of Voice Search and Virtual Assistants

The rise of generative search has ushered in a new era of voice search. Siri and Alexa 2.0, if you will.  Now, we have ChatGPT and Gemini apps on our phones, and Meta has integrated voice search into every product.

To make the most of this phenomenon, you must create voice-friendly content. This will ensure that your organic and ad content appears in voice search results. Don't let your Voice-First Marketing stop there. Consider the potential of voice-enabled emails and voice-activated Virtual Assistants (VA).

Speaking of which, Chatbots and VAs are still extremely powerful mechanisms for customer service and shouldn't be overlooked.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Experiences

We've not scratched the surface of Immersive Marketing, namely Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).

While gaming has monetised VR for years, real estate is the only other industry I've seen that uses VR to its advantage. VR enables potential buyers to walk through the property regardless of physical proximity. It's a clever way to widen the net by making cross-province and -country purchases possible.

Engineers & developers could let funders see what they are buying into first-hand. Mines could make their safety tutorials infinitely more effective.

The augmented reality side of things has taken more shape in marketing. Coca-Cola and KFC have run successful 3D/AR ads. Did you see this 3D billboard in Braamfontein?

B2B brands should definitely see how they can capture attention and elevate user experience with this technology.

Short-form Video Content

Ok, I concede budgets might still be a bit too tight to let loose on AR and VR yet—but marketers must invest in short-form video this year.

Platforms like TikTok have catapulted short-form video into the stratosphere. Instagram, Facebook Reels, and YouTube shorts are consumers' favourite ways to consume content. I have no doubt that by the end of the year, video will be one of the largest expenses in marketing budgets. Make room for In-Feed Video Ads, explainer videos and more in your content strategy.

Social Selling

There's no better advertising than Word of Mouth advertising, the power of which is exponential on social media.

Smart marketers should build online communities and reap the benefits of:

  • Satisfying audience needs, fostering brand loyalty.
  • Unprecedented consumer education opportunities.
  • User-generated content.
  • Generating leads.
  • Identifying potential opportunities and threats (via social listening).
  • Having an unbelievably effective pool of brand advocates.

You don't have to do this alone.
